Steve Jurash
President & CEO

Steve has over 25 years marketing experience, 17 of them as President of a medium-sized advertising agency and marketing consulting firm representing manufacturing clients from all over the world.

Much of his time with the UII has involved working directly with Philadelphia's manufactures, as a marketing coach," and leading a New Product Development Group, teaching companies how to innovate and bring new products to market. This initiative alone, between 2000 and 2002, generated $16 million in new investment and created over 250 new jobs for those companies participating.

Now, as President and CEO of the UII and Manufacturing Alliance of Philadelphia, Steve is largely involved with policy issues effecting Philadelphia's manufacturing sector and in developing new programs to enhance the growth and profitability of this important part of the City's economy.

Meghan Smyth
Vice President of Operations

Meghan is UII's senior administrator, who either manages or participates in virtually every aspect of UII operations. She is the Treasurer and Secretary for the UII/MAP Board of Directors and also insures that the office of the President runs smoothly.

Meghan has worked extensively in both the non-profit sector and in the area of customer service and brings well rounded energy to the UII team. Meghan has a B.A. from Arcadia University in Corporate Communications.

Steve Horton
Economic Development Specialist
(Industrial Districts)

Steve Horton has worked in neighborhood economic development in the City of Philadelphia for over 20 years.

His work includes CDC/ business/community joint ventures, Commercial Corridor/Shopping Center management, Enterprise Zones Program administration and organizational development.

His role in the UII is strengthening and creating Industrial Districts while assisting manufacturers with the other phases of the Program.

Franz Schneider
Manufacturing Consultant

Franz Schneider has a first hand understanding of the problems faced by small Philadelphia manufacturers.

He had a degree in Mechanical Engineering coupled with eight years of corporate and military experience when his father died and he assumed the management of his families ailing manufacturing business located in Frankford.

Thirty-seven years later when he transferred operations to his son, the company had become the dominant domestic manufacturer in their industry and their tools were considered premier products.

Aaron Colsher
Director, Policy & Programs

As the Philadelphia Manufacturing Alliance’s Director of Policy and Programs, Aaron tracks and analyzes municipal, state, and federal legislation that has influence on manufacturing. Furthermore, Aaron maintains relationships with legislators and other individuals to best represent the interests of Philadelphia’s manufacturing community.

Aaron worked as an economic analyst prior to joining the Philadelphia Manufacturing Alliance. He received his Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Temple University and his Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Drexel University.

Charles Marcantonio
Director Employment & Training

As Director of MAP's Employment & Training division, Charlie is responsible for locating and placing workers needed by manufacturing companies. In addition, he coordinates the delivery of programs designed to assist companies in a variety of ways - from finding state funds to pay for employee training, to locating employer tax credits for certain classifications of employees. The employment and training division is here to help manufacturers with their HR needs.

Charlie comes to MAP after 26 years as CEO of an Executive Recruitment firm. He was involved in the recruitment of candidate's at all corporate levels, solicitation of client / corporate partners, and the marketing of services offered by the recruitment firm. Charlie's firm grew to well over 250 client companies and 30 thousand applicants throughout the USA. Charlie is a graduate of Glassboro State College / Rowan University with a B. A. in Education and is working towards his Masters.

Barry McCarthy, Special Projects Manager
Director Employment & Training

As Special Project Manager, Barry is responsible for coordinating, developing, and following through with various initiatives. He works with all of the directors and specialists, ensuring that their projects are running smoothly and efficiently. 

His ability to understand the problems facing business owners and neighborhood residents is somewhat unique; he recently retired as a Police Sergeant from the Camden City Police Department after a twenty-five year career. His community outreach skills that he developed in an urban setting, coupled with his managerial skills make him an asset to the UII and to MAP. Barry is a graduate of the Gloucester County College, with an Associate's Degree in Arts and Sciences, and is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Business Management at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
